Dong Gong's New Work: Chuan Shang Xing, Jingdezhen's Most Aesthetic Hotel
On my second visit to Jingdezhen, I found that Chuan Shang Xing had already opened. Time, architecture, and trees are the main characters in this space. In the afternoon, the courtyard and corridor are bathed in sunlight and wind, creating an unparalleled sense of comfort. A brick courtyard opens inward around the old phoenix tree on the west side.
"A courtyard without a phoenix tree is just a courtyard. But with this phoenix tree, it has an image and character, and you can have a conversation and exchange with it." The architect's perspective is truly remarkable.
The hotel's corridor structure also forms a sound corridor, where every subtle sound can be amplified and clearly transmitted. Combined with the sound art installations in the courtyard, the flowing soundscape evokes a deeper sense of architectural charm.
From the wooden corridor to the gallery, the architecture transitions to a corridor made of fair-faced concrete, but still maintains a warm brown tone, making the use of fair-faced concrete more harmonious and gentle in the space. Japanese artist Akamatsu Onryo's sound installation "Geomagnetic Suikinkutsu" is currently on display in the gallery, where you can listen to the sound of electromagnetic waves stirring glass, as if having a leisurely conversation with the architecture.
The child said on the river: Time passes like this, day and night. Now, the old factory from the past has transformed into a new building that sways with light and wind, hoping that nature and art can continue to resonate here.
