The Bao'en Pagoda, a seven-story brick and stone structure located at the summit of the mountain beside Lengyan Temple, was built during the Chongzhen reign of the Ming Dynasty by Qin Guanyang. Born in poverty, Qin Guanyang studied diligently, eventually passing the imperial examinations and ascending to the position of Minister of Personnel. To repay the kindness of his hometown elders and encourage his descendants to study diligently, he dedicated his savings to building this pagoda, naming it the "Bao'en Pagoda." Later, it became a landmark along the Yangtze River. As the first pagoda encountered by sailors traveling upstream, it earned the nickname "The First Pagoda of the Yangtze River."
