Kagoshima is known as the birthplace of many of the key figures in the Meiji Restoration.
The Kagoshima City Restoration Hometown Museum is a great place to learn about that history in an easy-to-understand and fun way. 📚
I wasn't particularly knowledgeable about history, but here I was able to enjoy learning about the lives of great figures like Saigo Takamori and Okubo Toshimichi through videos, dioramas, and interactive exhibits!

Particularly impressive was the section that recreated the townscape of Kagoshima at the end of the Edo period.
The space felt like I'd traveled back in time, and the lifestyles and passion of the people at that time were so vividly conveyed. ✨
Don't forget to take a photo with the life-size doll of Saigo. 📸
