Mount Taihei, the highest peak in Kamakura's mountains.
At its northwestern foot is Shomyoji Temple (commonly known as Imaizumi Fudoson).
Saved to have been founded by Kobo Daishi (also known as Kukai) during the Heian period, Shomyoji Temple is now affectionately known as "Imaizumi Fudo."
The temple grounds house a magnificent Fudodo Hall dedicated to Acala.
Nearby, Dainichi Nyorai and the 36 children are enshrined,
and the majestic atmosphere is so sublime it's hard not to stop and take a look.
For some reason, there's also a statue of the three monkeys, "🙈🙉🙊," placed here.
Just below the Fudodo Hall flows the "Yin Yang Waterfall," where ascetic practices were once performed. Even its name evokes the world of Onmyoji (the ancient Japanese manga). ☯️
Six Jizo statues are lined up at the temple entrance. Looking closely, you'll notice that the one on the far left has a high nose. 😳
※Apparently, they're nicknamed "Hanataka Jizo" (Hanataka Jizo)!
The sound of the waterfall echoes in the clear air, making this a truly secluded place in Kamakura. Because it's located away from downtown Kamakura,
I was able to stroll through a more mystical space. 😌
