⛅️The best seasons to visit Kamikochi

Kamikochi is only open from mid-April to mid-November, and each season has its own unique beauty.
• Spring (April - June) → Snow starts to melt, flowers and trees start to bloom
• Summer (July - August) → Cool weather, perfect for hiking
• Autumn (September - October) → Leaves change colors to red, orange and yellow, very beautiful
• Winter (November - April) → Closed due to heavy snowfall

Private cars are not allowed in Kamikochi. Tourists must travel by bus or taxi from nearby cities.

1. From Tokyo → Kamikochi
• By train:
• Take the Shinkansen from Tokyo → Matsumoto Station (~2.5 hrs)
• Transfer to the Matsumoto Dentetsu Line to Shin-Shimashima Station (~30 min)
• Then take the Alpico Bus to Kamikochi (~1 hr)
• By direct bus:
• There is an Alpico Highway Bus from Shinjuku directly to Kamikochi (~5-6 hrs)

2. From Osaka / Kyoto → Kamikochi
• By train:
• Take the Shinkansen to Nagoya → Transfer to the train to Matsumoto
• Then travel the same way as from Tokyo
• By direct bus:
• There are direct buses from Osaka and Kyoto to Kamikochi (~6-7 hrs)

3. From Nagoya → Kamikochi
• Take the Limited Express Shinano to Matsumoto (~2 hrs)
• Transfer to the same train and bus routes
