✓Shofukaku Garden
A Japanese garden you will pass by on the way from the Nakamura Memorial Museum to the D.T. Suzuki Museum. Shofukaku is a pond-and-spring garden built on natural terrain, mainly swamps and forests. It is said to have been built in the early Edo period. After several reconstructions, the Kasumi Pond in Shofukaku is even older than the famous Kasumi Pond in Kenrokuen.
This was once the residence of the Honda family, the head of the Kaga Eight Families, and it is also the only garden in Kanazawa City that has been preserved and has a connection with the Kaga Eight Families. It is a designated scenic spot in Kanazawa City and is free to visit.
