[Kagawa Trip] Like a European Castle!? A Spectacular View of Stonework at Toyonenike Dam
Hoonenike Dam, located in Kannonji City, Kagawa Prefecture, is known as Japan's oldest masonry multiple arch dam. It's a beautiful structure reminiscent of a European castle. 🏰✨
Constructed in the early Showa period, this dam is constructed of stacked stones, exuding a unique atmosphere of grandeur and history.
The cloudy weather on the day I visited only enhanced the dam's majesty, creating a scene reminiscent of a movie. 📸
The sound of flowing water and the texture of the stones were soothing, and the space, where natural and man-made beauty blended, was soothing.
In the summer, there's also a water-release event, where you can see a spectacular water curtain!
It's a fun place to stroll around taking photos with your partner, or a great place to quietly immerse yourself in history on a solo trip.
If you're looking for a slightly unusual and spectacular view during your Kagawa trip, Toyonenike Dam is a must-see spot.
