Seaside English Afternoon Tea Date | British Consulate at Takao

The British Consulate at Takao is a famous attraction in Kaohsiung that requires an admission ticket. Its red brick architecture and harbor views are stunning, making it perfect for photography and sightseeing.

One thing to note is that you might encounter macaques 🐒. Avoid holding food in your hands, as they can be aggressive. Definitely don't provoke them! On the bright side, spotting wildlife can add a touch of adventure 🤣.

🏖️ Atmosphere/Facilities:
Using a discount voucher to buy a drink and sitting on a chair to enjoy the view of Kaohsiung city and harbor while feeling the sea breeze is a delightful experience. However, the wind can be quite strong and chilly in winter, so dress warmly. In summer, it's best to visit before the afternoon to catch the sunset 🌇 and enjoy the comfortable breeze.

The park offers free guided tours at scheduled times. There's also an indoor restaurant, the Classical Rose Garden, which serves English afternoon tea. Besides the indoor dining area, the Classical Rose Garden has an outdoor beverage stand where you can use discount vouchers.

Ticket Information:

On-site full ticket: NT$99
Online ticket: NT$90 (includes themed stickers and a NT$30 discount voucher)
Student ticket: NT$49 (only available on-site, includes a NT$25 discount voucher)
Kaohsiung resident discount ticket: NT$49 (only available on-site, includes a NT$25 discount voucher)

🕰️ Opening Hours: Until 5:00 PM

The park is divided into upper and lower sections. Walking between the two areas takes about 5-6 minutes uphill or downhill. The upper section can be accessed via the staircase entrance at the harbor near Sun Yat-sen University, which is somewhat hard to locate. Follow the stairs up, and you'll first see a temple, with the ticket booth located nearby.

Cars must be parked in the lower section, with parking fees of NT$50 per hour. Motorcycles can be ridden up to the Eighteen Lords Trail area. Coordinate with the temple staff about parking; they are generally friendly and accommodating, often allowing temporary parking for visitors.
