Agongdian Reservoir is located at the junction of Yanchao, Gangshan and Tianliao Districts in Kaohsiung City. The Agongdian Reservoir was built in 1942 and officially opened in 1953 after 12 years of construction. The reservoir covers an area of 600 hectares and is the only reservoir in Taiwan whose main purpose is flood control. The dam is 2.38 kilometers long and is the longest dam in Taiwan. There are ten main scenic spots in Agongdian Reservoir. You can enjoy these beautiful scenery along this 10-kilometer-long bicycle path, including: Sunrise over Penglai, Morning Breeze in Lotus Pond, Reflection of Gangshan, Sunset on Longdige, Dragon's Mouth Swallowing Spring, Fishing for the Moon on the Rippling Water, Misty Rainbow Bridge, Riding in the Bamboo Forest, Shadows of Trees and Fragrance of Fruits, Morning Bells and Evening Drums, etc. In addition to its main function of flood control, the Agongdian Reservoir also serves the purpose of irrigation and water supply. In recent years, in order to promote green energy policies, large areas of solar panels have been installed on the lake to cover part of the lake surface. However, such policies have completely destroyed the original beautiful lake scenery.
