Kashgar Three-Day Travel Guide

Kashgar, a thousand-year-old city on the Silk Road, is a living fossil of Western Regions civilization and a hidden gem where nature and culture intertwine. It boasts China's only Islamic-style maze-like old town, divided into eastern and western districts. The eastern district is more commercial with numerous alleys for close interactions with locals, while the western district is richer in cultural heritage and features more Instagram-worthy spots.

Day 1: 10:30 AM spectacular city gate opening ceremony at the East Gate → Gaotai Folk Houses → Id Kah Mosque → Xiangfei Garden → Kashgar Grand Bazaar
Day 2: East Entrance → Flowerpot Bazaar → Geng Gong Temple → That Slow B&B → Bayi’s Mansion → Guli’s Home → Hanging Gardens → Old Town Corner Café → Woodenware Bazaar → Hat Bazaar → Han Bazaar → Id Kah Mosque → Grandpa’s Grandfather’s Father’s Naan → Cloth Bag Tree → Cloth Bag Alley → Rainbow Alley → Century-Old Tea House → Oil Painting Street → Various Exits

🏨Hotel Options: Inside or around the old town
🍴Food Recommendations:
- Baked Buns: Dough-wrapped lamb and onions, pit-baked to crispy perfection with juicy filling, fragrant with cumin.
- Gangzi Meat: Lamb and carrots slow-cooked in enamel mugs, clear broth rich in flavor, best enjoyed with torn naan.
- Pigeon Soup with Naan: Tender pigeon in thick broth.
- Handmade Ice Cream: Saffron or pistachio flavors, creamy and rich!
- Ma Ren Tang (Nut Cake): Walnuts, almonds, and raisins pressed into malt sugar.
- Pomegranate Juice: Freshly squeezed from Piyaman pomegranates, sweet-sour with a hint of tartness.

💡Tips:
1. Kashgar is 2 hours behind mainland China; dinner is usually after 8:00 PM.
2. Compare prices for souvenirs; shops outside the old town are cheaper.
3. Wear comfortable, lightweight, non-slip walking shoes.
