Michinoku Park (Michinoku Forest Lakeside Park

Encountering Michinoku Forest Lakeside Park in Tohoku during the cherry blossom season is a truly unforgettable experience, as if walking through time, the only thing changing is the beauty of spring.

In mid-to-late April, the park welcomes cherry blossoms and colorful flowers. The moist soil and light mist drift beneath the cherry trees, forming a long corridor against the clear sky. Looking out, you'll see a walking path winding along the lake, transforming into a picnic spot. Or, take a ride on a small train to enjoy the flower-filled scenery, a moving painting in a new world of nature.

The park boasts over 1,400 cherry trees, along with tulips, lotuses, and hydrangeas, lined up in vibrant colors across the open spaces, reminiscent of a family fairytale. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, a tunnel of pale pink flowers emerges, making you feel like you're immersed in a carpet of flowers.

The soft chatter of people, mixed with the sounds of folk music performed by live performers beneath the trees, is a moment of pure bliss, without effort. Sitting, eating a bento box on a turban, and gazing at the lake reflecting the clouds and pink flowers is a truly heartwarming experience.

Interesting activities include a small roller coaster, an outdoor play area for children, and a family-friendly BBQ area. However, on weekdays, it offers a balance of tranquility and beautiful flowers without rushing.

The recommended time is late morning, arriving around 10 a.m., for a leisurely stroll into the afternoon light. Alternatively, if you want to avoid the crowds, a less crowded weekday is ideal. Every step feels closer to nature than you might expect.

In summary, my impressions after my visit:

Michinoku Park is a natural stage, projecting life through the pink and green, with flowers and sky juxtaposed against each other. The lake in the park is a glass of peace. Walking through the blooming trees under the soft sunlight, I felt that this is different from the cherry blossoms in big cities, maintaining a real, unpretentious, yet warm, dreamlike quality.
