Jishan is one of Fujian Province's first "Historical and Cultural Towns." During the Anti-Japanese War, the Fujian Provincial Government relocated here for seven and a half years, making it the cultural center of the Southeast Anti-Japanese War. It was also the administrative center of the Kuomintang's anti-Japanese war government, housing over 100 government agencies and colleges.
Walking through the village lanes of Jishan, you can see local earthen buildings standing side by side with the Western European-style Yixiu Building. The outer walls of the houses built in the Qing Dynasty are painted with slogans such as "Fight the War to the End". The place where the progressive anti-Japanese magazine "Laobaixing" was once printed is the solemn Liu Family Ancestral Hall. The Qiyuan Academy, which still retains its ancient charm, was where the High Court held courts at that time... The interweaving of time and space leaves visitors with endless aftertastes.
With a subtropical monsoon climate, Jishan's rural scenery is also full of pastoral atmosphere. The Wenchuan River flows through here, making it suitable for travel in all seasons.
On either side of Jishan's countryside lies lush green rice paddies and tranquil forests. A floating bridge built with small boats stretches across the stream, creating a natural and rustic experience.
