Review of Keelung and Jiufen in 1 day

🛤️ Travel from Taipei
Start by taking the TRA train from Taipei Main Station (there are frequent trains and it is not crowded on weekdays). It takes about 40 minutes to Keelung Station. Then, if you want to go to Zhengbin Fishing Port or the colorful city, you can take a small bus or a taxi. It is not expensive.
🍽️ Best of the best: Keelung seafood
I can't not mention it! The Keelung Night Market area is a place where you can find fresh seafood, one dish at a time.
We stopped to eat fried oysters, fish head soup, and grilled squid. They were really fresh and not fake. The price was friendly and the taste was homely, but it was the best part of the trip.
🎨 Take a leisurely walk and take pictures in the colorful city of Zhengbin Fishing Port.
The highlight is the colorful buildings along the river that are lined up in rows like a scene from a Korean movie. They are so cute and you can take pictures anywhere.
The atmosphere there will be a cool breeze from the sea. If you walk a little further, you will find a small cafe decorated in a hip style. There are coffee, croissants, cute pastries, and you can sit and relax.
It is a city that seems like nothing but has "something" for those who like a cool, slow-life feel.
✨ Then we went to Jiufen Old Street, Taiwan.
Today we had the opportunity to visit "Jiufen", an ancient city located in a valley. The atmosphere is very good. It is like being in an old movie. It feels warm, a little cold, and the wind is blowing gently. We walked until we forgot our fatigue.
🚕 We took a taxi from Keelung because it is very convenient. But if you are in Taipei, there are many options.
Bus route 1062 from MRT Zhongxiao Fuxing
Bus route 965 from Ximen or Banqiao
Or you can take the train to Ruifang and then take another bus.
All of these can be used with EasyCard, very convenient.
🍡 When you arrive at Jiufen, there is a lot of food!
We started with Taro Ball (similar to Taiwanese glutinous rice balls) in sweet and fragrant syrup, with taro and purple sweet potato, chewy and very comforting.
Then there was Xiao Long Bao, the soup inside was amazing.
And the best of all was the “Peanut and Coriander Ice Cream”. It sounds strange but it goes together incredibly well! Thin dough, sprinkled with crushed peanuts, ice cream and coriander. It was so delicious that we were hooked and had to come back to Thailand to eat it again. 😆
🛍️ There are also many souvenirs, both food such as pineapple pie, local snacks
or craft items, key chains, wooden works, cute and unique.
📸 A must-take photo spot is A-Mei Teahouse, which is right on the curve. Looking down, you can see red lanterns lined up in layers. It’s so beautiful. When you come to Jiufen, you have to take a photo here!
