Kaindy Lake, a sunken forest lake, lies at an elevation of approximately 1,800-2,000 meters above sea level.
"Kaindy" is a Kazakh word meaning "birch," or a reference to birch (Birch Lake).
Located in the Almaty region of southeastern Kazakhstan, approximately 300 kilometers from Almaty, it's near the city of Almaty.
Things to Know:
The entrance fee is 750 tenge per person (45 baht).
Access is by off-road vehicle only, as the road is rocky and uneven. Parking is available at the entrance.
You can also share a car with other groups or rent a car (our group rented a round-trip car for 20,000 tenge from our accommodation).
There is a trail leading to the lake, but most tourists choose to ride horseback (approximately 400-500 baht). Horseback riding is limited to approximately one hour.
Caution:
Since there is no price control, consider the price appropriately. Worth the price as stated.
