For those visiting Trat with an interest in history and spirituality, Wat Salak in Khao Saming District is a must-see. This small temple quietly holds significant stories of the nation's past 🙏🌿
This is not just an ordinary temple. It was once a refuge for King Taksin the Great, where he sheltered from storms and set up camp during his journey by sea to Chanthaburi. There, he gathered forces before reclaiming independence for the nation at Thonburi in 1767 ⚔️
Later, locals built the temple at the site where the King had stayed, creating what we now know as "Wat Salak."
Another highlight not to be missed is the 12-sided pagoda housing the remains of the brave soldiers who accompanied King Taksin on his journey to reclaim the nation. This small yet meaningful spot symbolizes the courage and sacrifice of ordinary people who achieved extraordinary feats for their homeland 🇹🇭
The temple is serene and shaded, with a small yet classic chapel. It's perfect for paying respects, relaxing, strolling, or finding inner peace during your travels.
