Hidden Gem for Foreigners: Talay Noi in Phatthalung

If you head to Trang in southern Thailand, you'll come across a small city called Phatthalung. Here lies "Talay Noi," which translates to "small sea." This place remains a hidden gem, largely unknown to foreign visitors.

⏰ When to Visit Talay Noi?
The most important tip: Start your tour early in the morning, before sunrise! 🌅
To make this possible, we traveled to Phatthalung the day before our visit to Talay Noi and stayed overnight. We left our accommodation at 5:50 AM and arrived at the Talay Noi pier around 6:00 AM, where local boatmen were already waiting for tourists. The sunrise at Talay Noi is absolutely magical, so don’t miss it!
📢 Pro Tip: The lotus flowers are at their peak during the dry season from December to March.
• Especially in January and February: The wetlands are painted pink with fully bloomed lotus flowers.
• Early morning (between 6–8 AM): This is the best time to see the lotus flowers in full bloom under the morning sunlight. As the sun gets stronger, the petals may start to close.

🚣♂️ Talay Noi Boat Tour Options and Prices
When you arrive at the pier, you can choose between two tour options:
• 1-hour tour: 550 baht (approximately 23,000 KRW)
• 2-hour tour: 900 baht (approximately 38,000 KRW)
We opted for the 1-hour tour, but the kind boatman ended up taking us around for almost 2 hours (1 hour and 50 minutes)! It was such a touching experience. 😭 Of course, we gave him a generous tip for his excellent service!
Each boat can accommodate a family of four. After the tour, you can pay the boatman directly—550 baht or 900 baht, depending on your chosen course—and add a tip if you wish.
