🏯Castles, 🍰 Cakes & ♨️Hot Springs
We started early with a scenic bus ride to Himeji Castle, a true icon of Japan and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its elegant white structure lived up to its nickname, the “White Egret Castle.” Next door, the tranquil Koko-en Garden offered a peaceful moment amid fall colors 🍁
Before leaving Himeji, we made a sweet detour for the legendary Millennium Baumkuchen — the very cake Tom Cruise reportedly bought 50 of while filming The Last Samurai at nearby Engyoji Temple. With its buttery layers and almond crunch, it was rich, moist, and truly unforgettable 🍰✨
In the afternoon, we explored Arima Onsen, one of Japan’s oldest hot spring towns. Wandering its quaint streets, we tried the famous manju, a warm, fluffy bun with a delicate sweetness. Comfort food at its best!
Our final stop was Mount Rokkō. Instead of sunset views, we were greeted by unexpected snowfall, thick clouds, and freezing wind — a dramatic and moody end to a packed day. Even though we couldn’t see the view, the wintry vibe made it memorable in its own way ❄️
