With crystal-clear waters and pristine white sand beaches, just a 30-minute boat ride from Pattaya, this tropical paradise known as "Little Coral Island" is one of the most captivating islands off Thailand's eastern coast.
Koh Larn, also known as Little Coral Island, is a popular island getaway near Pattaya, Thailand. 01 How to Get to Koh Larn
There are two main ways to get to Koh Larn from Pattaya: public ferry and private speedboat.
Bali Hai Pier in Pattaya is the main pier for Koh Larn. The public ferry costs only 30 baht per person and the journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Scheduled departures are available daily from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Ferries dock at two main piers on Koh Larn: Ta Waen Beach Pier and Na Baan Pier.
For efficiency and convenience, a private speedboat is a better option. The journey takes only 10-20 minutes and costs around 150 baht one way (prices are negotiable). It also provides direct access to some beaches only accessible by speedboat.
Return trip reminder: If taking a public ferry, be sure to check the last return boat time in advance to avoid missing the last boat back to Pattaya.
02 Getting Around the Island
Although Koh Larn is small, beaches are still some distances from each other to walk. The following are common transportation options on the island:
• Motorbike taxis: The most convenient means of transportation for short distances, suitable for point-to-point travel. Prices should be negotiated in advance.
• Motorbike rentals: Offer the most freedom and are ideal for exploring the island. A daily rental costs around 200-300 baht. Be sure to inspect the vehicle before renting, and wear a helmet when riding. • Tuk-Tuk: Suitable for short distances, affordable, and environmentally friendly.
• Walking: If you're confined to the beaches near the pier, walking is a good option.
03 Stunning Beaches and Must-See Attractions
Koh Larn has seven main beaches, each with its own unique charm. Choose one based on your preferences. The following table provides a quick overview of the main beach features:
Beach Name Features and Atmosphere Suitable for:
Tawaen Beach: The busiest, most well-equipped, and offering a wide variety of water activities. Suitable for those who enjoy a lively atmosphere and a variety of water activities.
Samae Beach: Relatively quiet, with a long, sandy beach and a wide bay. Suitable for those who prefer peace and quiet, relaxation, and photography.
Nual Beach: Secluded and less crowded, also known as Monkey Beach. Suitable for those seeking to escape the crowds and enjoy the natural scenery.
Tien Beach: Accessible only by speedboat, with pristine white sand and clear water. Suitable for those seeking a secluded escape and snorkeling.
Secluded Attraction: The Windmill Viewpoint
Located on a hill between Samet Beach and Nual Beach, this is a prime viewpoint. From here, you can enjoy the stunning views of Koh Larn's southern tip. The view is quite unobstructed and is especially recommended in the evening to watch the sunset. However, please note that the path up the hill is a bit steep, so please exercise caution when traveling. 04 Thrilling Water Activities

• Best Time to Visit: We recommend visiting during the dry season, from November to April. The weather is clear and stable during this period, perfect for water activities.
• Itinerary Tip: Combine your visit to Koh Larn with Pattaya and Bangkok. For example, plan a one-day trip to Koh Larn, a one- to two-day trip to Pattaya, and a three- to four-day trip to Bangkok.
• Bargaining Tips: Some island expenses (such as water activities and transportation) may be negotiable, so be friendly and compare prices.
• Safety and Sun Protection: Always follow the instructor's instructions when engaging in water activities. The Thai sun is strong, so be sure to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated.
