Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks

- The legend of Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks, as told in the local folklore of Koh Samui, narrates that long ago, there was an elderly couple named Grandpa Khreng and Grandma Riam from Pak Phanang, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. They set out on a sailboat to ask for the hand of the daughter of Grandpa Mong Lai from Prachuap Khiri Khan Province for their son, Khong. The boat was steered by Prab, a friend of their son. When the boat reached the Lamai Cape area, a massive storm struck, causing the boat to capsize. The dowry they had prepared sank and was lost. Relatives and friends who traveled with them drowned, turning into small islands surrounding Koh Samui. Many were swept away and became the Ang Thong Islands. Khong was carried away to Chaweng Beach and perished, becoming Koh Khong. As for Prab, he clung to his junk boat, which drifted towards Bandon Bay. Before entering Bandon Bay, the junk sank.
