I had the opportunity to be “stranded on an island” on Koh Yao Yai in Phang Nga Province more than ten years ago. At that time, I took a boat from Phuket. It didn’t take long to get to the quiet island with almost no tourists.

We stayed at a small bungalow guesthouse by the sea with a view of the vast expanse of water without any disturbances. We had dinner with the owner’s family who took care of us like family. The food was simple but full of flavor and warmth.

The owner took us on a motorbike to see how the locals make pla jingchang.

Just one night there, I felt like I had recharged my body and mind. The sea was beautiful, quiet, and had a good breeze. It was a simple memory that I still remember clearly to this day.
