Kotor Old Town

Kotor Old Town has a history of more than two thousand years, and four centuries of Venetian rule have endowed the city with a typical Venetian architectural style. The Romanesque St. Tryphon Cathedral in the old town (Photo 5), built in 1166, is famous for its unique twin-spired mirrored architecture and is dedicated to the city's patron saint, St. Tryphon. Behind the old town is a magnificent ancient city wall extending 4.5 kilometers along the ridge above the city (Photos 1-4), like Kotor's "Great Wall."
