Kotor is like Dubrovnik’s quieter, more mysterious cousin. The old town is a maze of stone alleys, tiny churches, and sun-dappled squares, all enclosed by ancient walls. I climbed the San Giovanni Fortress for jaw-dropping views of the Bay of Kotor—deep blue water snaking between steep, green mountains. The cats of Kotor are everywhere, adding charm, and the vibe is both relaxed and romantic. I loved wandering at dusk when the golden light hits the stone and the bells start ringing. It’s a lesser-known Mediterranean gem with centuries of history packed into a compact, walkable town.
