The Malaysian Islamic Art Museum is the first and largest museum in the Southeast Asian region dedicated to Islamic art. It is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and opened on December 12, 1998. The Islamic Art Museum building was designed by Malaysians to showcase the beauty of Islamic architecture.
Its most prominent feature is the construction of five domes. Four of its domes can be seen from outside, while the fifth dome can only be seen from inside the building. The Museum of Islamic Art contains up to 7 thousand artifacts including examples of Islamic metalwork and ceramics. It also has a library of Islamic art books.
