Ghost Lane - Jalan Petaling (Petaling Street) - Central Market - Masjid Jamek Lookout Point @ River of Life - Jamek Mosque - Independence Square/Sultan Abdul Samad Building/City Gallery. These attractions are located close to each other, making them ideal to visit together during the day.
Ghost Lane: This short alley features murals that showcase Kuala Lumpur's history and culture.
Jalan Petaling (Petaling Street): Accessible via Kuala Lumpur Metro Green Line KGL and Red Line KJL at "Pasar Seni" station, followed by a 10-minute walk. Petaling Street resembles the style of Chinatown gates found worldwide, exuding a strong Chinese cultural vibe. It is also home to popular local delicacies such as Yi Xin's tofu pudding and soy milk. Besides food, there are souvenir shops, though personally, I don't find this area particularly appealing.
Central Market: Highly recommended for those interested in handicrafts, textiles, and souvenirs. The covered market ensures a comfortable shopping experience without the heat.
Masjid Jamek Lookout Point @ River of Life: Offers the perfect vantage point for photographing Jamek Mosque.
Independence Square/Sultan Abdul Samad Building: These attractions are located together. Independence Square is directly opposite the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, which was constructed in 1897 as the administrative center for the British colonial government, originally named "New Government Offices." It was once the political hub of the area. After Malaysia's independence, the building was renamed to honor Sultan Abdul Samad of Selangor, who presided over the groundbreaking ceremony. It has also served as the location for Malaysia's Court of Appeal, Federal Court, and High Court. Currently, it houses the Ministry of Information, Communication, and Culture of Malaysia.
Must-visit attractions.
