Kuala Lumpur National Museum, a timeline of Malaysian history

#TravelGuide

Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the National Museum,
opened in 1963, is Malaysia's premier museum of history and culture.

The building itself is designed in the style of a Malay palace, and its façade is adorned with Italian mosaic murals.

The exhibition space is divided into four thematic galleries:
• Prehistoric times to the Malay Kingdom
• Colonial times
• Modern Malaysia
Each gallery displays a variety of artifacts, household utensils, and traditional clothing.

Opening hours are 9:00–17:00 daily, with last admission at approximately 16:30.

The museum is within walking distance of Museum Negara MRT station, making it a convenient stop during your city trip.

Since the museum is primarily indoors, it can be visited regardless of the weather.
If you want to gain a comprehensive understanding of Malaysian history and culture in a comfortable setting,
the National Museum is a great addition to your itinerary.
