Sarawak State Museum is the oldest in Borneo. This is a very attractive place for tourists. Many of them believe that this is the best museum in Kuching, not counting, of course, the cat museum. Its location is convenient, in the city center, you can easily get here on foot. The museum was founded at the end of the 19th century by Charles Brooke under the influence of the British naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, who at that time was studying the Malay archipelago.
On the first floor there are stuffed animals. There are birds, cats, rodents and primates. The second floor contains ethnographic artifacts from the state's indigenous peoples, including a wide collection of traditional ceremonial masks from different tribes.
Address: Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Taman Budaya, 93400 Kuching, Sarawak
