Astana Kuching

#celebratewithtrip

The Astana was built in 1870 by the second White Rajah, Charles Brooke, as a wedding gift to his wife, Margaret Alice Lili de Windt. The Astana is located on the north bank of the Sarawak River, opposite the Kuching Waterfront. As this is the official residence of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Governor of Sarawak, the palace is not opened to visitors. The only time it is opened is during the Hari Raya celebration where the gate is open to visitors. Very attractive grounds outside.
The best view of the Astana is from the Golden "S" bridge.......night time is a good photo.
Night view is marvelous.
