The Former Nozaki Family Residence in Kojima, Kurashiki City, is the mansion of Nozaki Takezaemon, the "salt king" who achieved success in the salt industry during the Edo period. The main house, storehouse, and garden remain on the vast grounds, allowing visitors to experience firsthand the lifestyle of a wealthy merchant of the time. β¨
When I visited, I was overwhelmed by the stately architecture and beautiful garden. The smell of tatami mats, the warmth of the wood, and the quiet air...it felt as if I had traveled back in time to the Edo period. πΏ It's a wonderful place to stroll through history with your partner, and I also recommend taking your time to explore on your own.
The exhibition room, lined with salt-making tools and household items, offers a fascinating insight into the industry and culture of the time. I sat on the garden veranda for a while, listening to the sound of the wind and calming my mind. π
If you're looking for a trip that connects you to history, the Former Nozaki Family Residence is a must-see. It's a place where time flows quietly and deeply.
