The Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter has unique street scenes such as white-walled kura-yashiki, sea cucumber walls, and willow-shaded streets. Many old traditional buildings and the ancient water village style along the Kurashiki River make visitors from all over the world linger. The unique charm of the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter also lies in the many fashionable shops and exquisite grocery stores selling Kurashiki specialty products and new brands such as "Kurashiki canvas" and "Kurashiki denim", as well as coffee shops converted from old shops.
Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture, was a direct-controlled area during the Edo Shogunate era and was a very luxurious town at the time. To this day, townhouses and warehouses are still preserved, and the white walls, bricks, and willow trees everywhere are full of historical atmosphere. The main tourist attractions are located in the Bikan Historical Quarter of Kurashiki, which is a good place for a leisurely walk. Art museums such as the Ohara Museum of Art are also gathered here, so it is also called the Art Street. In recent years, many modern handmade sundries and MT masking tape specialty stores have also settled in, and there are also coffee shops that offer sweet seasonal white peach fruit desserts, attracting many girls.
Come to the Bikan District for a walk. The local historical streets have been completely preserved for about 300 years since the Edo period. The townhouses and warehouses are lined up, exuding a strong Edo style.
If it happens to be on Saturday, there is also a chance to participate in the local fresh product market Kurashiki Road City Garden, which is jointly organized by the local tourism association and citizens. Here you can taste the freshest seafood and fruits and vegetables. Among them, the freshly made bento and hot coffee are the most popular stalls. Don't miss it every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm!
Kurashiki River is a river that runs through the Bikan District. After eating, you are too full to walk and want to take a break. You can take a boat to enjoy the surrounding scenery. The boat is open from 9:30 am to 5 pm, every 30 minutes. Adults are 500 yen and children are 250 yen. You can buy tickets at the Kurashikikan Tourist Information Center.
Many people also go to Kurashiki for wedding photography services. Okayama Prefecture has beautiful traditional scenery, such as Okayama Castle and Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter. It is known as the "Sunshine Country" because of its warm climate.
