Naritasan Kurume Branch Temple in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is one of Kyushu's most famous spiritual sites.
The 62-meter-tall Kannon Bodhisattva statue towers into the sky, watching over the city of Kurume as if gently embracing it.
But this temple also has another must-see attraction: the Hell Hall! π
Inside the Hell Hall, you'll find a series of 3D exhibits that realistically recreate the world of hell, including the Needle Mountain, the Pond of Blood, and King Enma!
Combined with sound and light effects, the experience is so immersive it's almost spine-chilling...
But it's not just scary; it also conveys the message that "good deeds will send you to paradise."
This is a rare spot where you can learn about both hell and paradise through physical experience.
You can also visit the interior of the Kannon statue, and as you climb the spiral staircase, you'll find paradise and Buddhist exhibits, and the top floor offers a panoramic view of the Chikugo Plain.
This is a one-of-a-kind sacred place where you can truly experience "hell and paradise" all at once. β¨
