Daokou Town, a township under the jurisdiction of Hua County, Henan Province, is located in the northwest corner of Hua County, Henan Province, on the ancient Golden Dike of the Yellow River. It serves as the seat of the Hua County Party Committee and County Government, and the political, economic, and cultural center of the county. The town covers an area of 17.9 square kilometers and comprises 10 administrative villages and five communities, with a population of over 80,000, including 17,600 agricultural workers and over 8,000 mu of cultivated land.
Daokou Town is committed to developing efficient ecological agriculture. By promoting advanced technology and increasing investment, the town is vigorously implementing the "One Excellence, Two Highs" agricultural development strategy. While stabilizing grain production, the town is rationally adjusting the agricultural structure and actively guiding farmers to adopt a market-oriented approach. The focus is on developing specialty agriculture, including high-quality and efficient crops, animal husbandry, high-quality forestry and fruit production, and greenhouse vegetables.
Daokou Town boasts a strong industrial foundation. Since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, the town has achieved remarkable economic success. The non-public sector has surged in popularity, with various economic indicators, including output value, profits and taxes, increasing by over 20% annually.
Daokou Town boasts a temperate monsoon climate, boasting a network of streets crisscrossed by neatly lit streetlights. Shops and restaurants line the streets, and commercial districts such as Roast Chicken Street and Ziguang Pedestrian Street have been established. It's a pleasant place to visit in all seasons.
Shunhe Ancient Street, located in Daokou Ancient Town on the banks of the Weiyun River in the northwest corner of Hua County, Anyang City, is a large and relatively well-preserved complex of ancient residential buildings, serving as a genuine museum of Ming and Qing dynasty northern Chinese residential architecture. Over 1,000 ancient shops and residences still stand on the street, most of which are two-story, single-eaved, gable-roofed buildings with small green tiles.
The fronts of the ancient shops along Shunhe Ancient Street are mostly wooden structures. Wooden pillars support the weight, and slatted doors open and close. Where the gables meet the eaves, brick brackets are often found. The bases of these brackets are often decorated with beautiful brick carvings. These carvings feature patterns such as bats, magpies, cranes, plum blossoms, bamboo, chrysanthemums, cloud patterns, and the character for longevity, symbolizing wealth, longevity, auspiciousness, and beauty.
Behind the shops on the street are residential houses, and the corridors of the residential houses are located on the left side of the shops. There are at least two doors in the corridor, which is related to the folk saying that "ladies of noble families never go out of the first door and never step into the second door."
On Shunnan Street, there is an old teahouse facing the street called "Goushi Wenming Teahouse". The owners of the Gou family have lived there for hundreds of years and have inherited the family from generation to generation.
At the northern end of Shunbei Street stands the well-preserved Beidawang Temple. It is said to have been built in the 18th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1590 AD) and is constructed in the style of a linked-roof structure. The temple gate faces west, overlooking the Wei River. Inside, five water conservancy pioneers are enshrined: Li Bing from the Eastern Zhou and Warring States periods, Xie Xu from the Southern Song, Huang Shoucai and Zhang Juzheng from the Ming Dynasty, and Zhu Zhixi from the Qing Dynasty.
