⚓️ The white guardian of ships in the Pacific Ocean - Shiomasa Lighthouse

Standing at Shio Cape, the southernmost tip of Honshu, the Shio Cape Lighthouse has been protecting the safety of ships sailing on the Pacific Ocean for nearly 150 years.

🚎 Take the bus from JR Kushimoto Station and get off at "Shiomisaki Lighthouse-mae"

Since the Edo government signed the Edo Treaty with Britain, the United States and other countries, the 18-meter-high Shionomisaki Lighthouse began to illuminate ships at the southernmost tip of Honshu in 1873 to ensure the safety of ships' navigation. Shiomasaki Lighthouse is one of the eight earliest lighthouses built in Japan and the only one that still retains its original appearance today, so it has extremely high historical value.

Rather than simply watching the sea next to the lighthouse, as long as you walk up the 68 steps of the lighthouse, you can see the endless Pacific Ocean and the magnificent sight of huge waves crashing on the shore from the lighthouse observation deck. Imagine that the crew members on the boundless sea suddenly saw the light of the lighthouse, knowing that the time to reach land is not far away, and they can get together with their family and eat different delicacies. What a joyful thing that would be. You can also see the vast lawn that was once the site of the naval observation tower. The 68 steps are definitely worth climbing.

There are also historical materials in the tower, which can let tourists know more about the past of the lighthouse.
