Viewing cherry blossoms on the Arashiyama Train is quite a special experience! So buy your tickets early on the official website! We chose the route from Kamoka Station to Saga Station! This way you don’t have to go back!
🚇Transportation
From Kyoto Station, take the JR line to Mabori Station. Remember, it’s Mabori Station, not Kameoka Station! Don’t take the wrong seat! When you exit the station, follow the signs and walk for about 10 minutes to the train station~
🎫Ticket
We bought it directly from the official website "Sagano Romantic Train" and exchanged the tickets at Kyoto Station. The exchange location is not easy to find, so you have to look for the green sign! (It will also be mentioned in the booking email)
🌸Arashiyama Train
It was relatively early when we went, so the flowers hadn’t bloomed yet, so we could just wait for the bus at the platform. However, no one on-site staff spoke English, and our bus was late. We didn’t know what was going on at first, so we still asked. Next to the foreigners.
The small train has designated seats, but there are not many people, so there are also other carriages in the middle. If you start sitting, the left side is better! You can see streams and cherry blossom trees! On the contrary, you can’t see much scenery starting from the right side.
It takes about 15-20 minutes to get to Saga Station, which is not very long~ It would be nice if it was full, but it’s a pity that it was a bit early when I went there!
🛍️Business Street
Walking out near Saga Station, navigate in the direction of Togetsukyo Bridge. There is a commercial street with a lot of food. There are many cherry blossoms on both sides. I personally think this commercial street is very beautiful to take pictures! There is also a famous Miffy store with a big Miffy at the door! ! It’s so cute to take photos~
temple
We passed a temple in the middle, where we could see the garden view, so we went in, but I forgot the name. Haha, it was a very interesting Japanese garden, and it felt peaceful and quiet. Unfortunately, it closed at 5 o'clock, so I came a little late and didn't see much.
bamboo forest
I heard that it was the place where "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" was filmed before, but we couldn't find the exact location, so we looked next to the bamboo forest coming down from the temple. The bamboo forest was quite high and felt quite deep!
Togetsukyo Bridge
Finally arrived at Togetsukyo Bridge! It is also the filming location for the ending of Conan hhh. The bridge is not long. In fact, the scenery on the bridge is just average. It is not as beautiful as the comics. There are also fewer flowers nearby, but the park after crossing the bridge is nice! There are so many cherry blossoms planted, they should be quite beautiful in full bloom! Unfortunately it rained that day!
Friends who come from Kyoto recommend using it for one day! It’s beautiful when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. If it’s not the cherry blossom season, you can also take the train ~ a relaxing day
