One of the sub-temples of Shokoku-ji, its official name is Rokuon-ji. It is called Kinkaku-ji because its reliquary hall, Kinkakuji, is particularly famous. It is said to have begun when Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the third shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, acquired it and built the mountain villa Kitayamadono. Kinkaku-ji, which suddenly appears in front of you, is dazzling and beautiful even on a rainy day, and I took many pictures. The leaves were just starting to change color when I visited, but the beauty of the autumn leaves and Kinkaku-ji was truly like the world of paradise.
