Memoirs of a Geisha

After reading Memoirs of a Geisha, I had the impression that geishas were beautiful, elegant and sad. But times have changed. Today's geishas are more like dance artists. They study dance, manners and makeup diligently, and step by step become dazzling geishas.

Life is about experiencing, and I am very fortunate to have watched a geisha perform, and to have been able to take a closer look at various authentic items such as headdresses and clothes at the Hanamachi Art Museum. The geisha I saw was named Mameji, and she performed the Kyoto dance, which was a slow and graceful movement. Everyone’s life is special. I wonder if there is something in my life that I can pursue unremittingly.
