[Kyoto] I went to Toyokuni Shrine!!

A must-see for history buffs and Kyoto lovers! Toyokuni Shrine, dedicated to Toyotomi Hideyoshi

If you're looking for hidden historical sites in Kyoto, Toyokuni Shrine is a must! This shrine enshrines Toyotomi Hideyoshi and is known, even among those in the know, as a power spot for success and good fortune.

Located about a 10-minute bus ride from Kyoto Station, close to Sanjusangendo Temple and the Kyoto National Museum, the first thing you'll see upon entering the temple grounds is the magnificent Karamon Gate. This gate, formerly located at Fushimi Castle, is designated a National Treasure! Its gorgeous carvings are truly representative of Hideyoshi's splendor.

The main hall enshrines Hideyoshi, who ruled the Sengoku period, and is recommended for those praying for good luck in business or competition. The Toyokuni Daimyojin amulets, said to grant success and good fortune, are especially popular among businessmen and students taking exams!
