Carp in the pond at the Kyoto Imperial Palace

Kyoto Imperial Palace last fall.

I went to the Kyoto Imperial Palace for the first time on a trip in 2022 and was impressed by the beauty of the palace garden.

In particular, the vast pond was surrounded by lush trees, and large silver carp were swimming in the pond.

As I continued walking, I came across a bridge over a stream, and I felt the beauty of each and every stone, large and small.

The deep green of the trees was reflected on the surface of the water, creating a sophisticated beauty unique to Japan.
