Black Gate of Mount Atago

There are many historical sites on Mt. Atago, and this Kuromon gate is one of them. At first glance, it looks like the gate of Atago Shrine, but it is actually the gate of the former Hakuunji Temple. This gate is a remnant of Mt. Atago, which was once a syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism. Its jet black presence is striking.
