Langzhong Zhang Huanhou Ancestral Hall, also known as Zhang Fei Temple, is located in the West Street of the Ancient City of Langzhong City, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province. It is an ancestral temple commemorating Zhang Fei, a famous general of the Shu and Han Dynasties during the Three Kingdoms Period.The temple was built in the Three Kingdoms Period. The existing building is a Sihe courtyard-style ancient architectural complex rebuilt during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It covers an area of about 5,000 square meters and has a total construction area of 2,200 square meters.
The main buildings of Zhang Huanhou Ancestral Hall include the mountain Gate, the Enemy Ten Thousand Buildings, the left and right archways, the east and west wings, the main hall, the apse, the tomb pavilion and the tomb mound.The mountain gate has a hanging mountain-style roof, and a large plaque of the “Han Huanhou Ancestral Hall” by the famous calligrapher Zhao Puchu hangs in the middle of the gate.The main hall is built on a two-meter-high stone platform foundation, with a width of five rooms and a majestic aura.Behind the ancestral hall is Zhang Fei's tomb. The tomb mound is oval in shape, the sealed soil pile is 8 meters high, the woods on the mound are verdant, and the ancient trees are towering.
The Zhang Huanhou Ancestral Hall is not only a place to commemorate Zhang Fei, but also has important historical and cultural value.It is an important historical fact for the study of ancient traditional architectural techniques and folk customs in Sichuan, and it has high reference value for the ideas and methods of the early planning of ancient architectural complexes in the Langzhong area. On November 20, 1996, Zhang Huanhou Ancestral Hall was announced by the State Council as the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection object.
