Totoro Rock is located in Lanyu Township, Taitung County, and is one of the island's most distinctive coastal erosion landscapes. It gets its name because its shape resembles the main character from Hayao Miyazaki's animated film 'My Neighbor Totoro.'
Although it is actually a rock formed by years of erosion from sea winds and waves, from a certain angle, it really looks like Totoro lying there daydreaming. It's so photogenic that you'll want to whip out your phone and snap away! This spot is also a popular check-in location during island tours, whether under the blue skies and clear seas of daytime or during the golden hues of sunset.
Visiting Lanyu isn't just about seeing flying fish or experiencing Tao culture; natural wonders like this are also well worth a visit. It's recommended to rent a scooter and leisurely circle the island, stopping along the way to soak in the island's pristine charm and healing scenery!
