Lanzhou's top attraction, Baita Mountain, is home to many temples, the most famous of which is Baita Temple. However, the best-preserved and most popular temple is Fayusi Temple.
Fayusi Temple is a nunnery, with most of its buildings dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is built along a cliff, with the southern buildings perched on sheer cliffs, so the main gate faces east while sitting west.
The colorful archway outside the main gate is also quite remarkable. Standing on the cliff, it offers a panoramic view of Lanzhou city and the rushing Yellow River.
Turning left from the main gate leads to Baita Temple. Nearby are Yunyuet Temple and Wenchang Palace Taoist Temple, but they seem to be closed.
