Breathtaking Coastal Drive Along The Great Ocean Road

Lavers Hill was the perfect launchpad for an epic Great Ocean Road adventure 🚗🌊. The coastline views literally blew my mind, and there’s plenty to do if you love chasing waterfalls and quiet beaches!
Must-See Spots:
Great Ocean Road (Torquay, Victoria): Start your day cruising along this iconic highway. It’s open all day, so sunrise or sunset drives are pure magic. (Admission: 951.0)
Waterfalls: Take time to detour inland for lush spots like Hopetoun Falls and Beauchamp Falls. Both are a short drive from Lavers Hill—pack hiking shoes!
Beaches: On the way, don’t skip Gibson Steps and Loch Ard Gorge, where the sand is golden and crowds thin out after midday.
Day Trip Tips:
Fuel up in Lavers Hill before you hit the road—cafés here have hearty breakfasts and good coffee (try the homemade scones!). The drive itself is twisty but stunning, so plan at least half a day to soak in the views plus photo stops.
Getting Around:
Rent a car for true flexibility; public transport is limited. Fill your tank at Lavers Hill before heading toward waterfalls or beaches, as stations get rare further out.
Food: Local cafés in Lavers Hill serve up Aussie classics. Try fish & chips for lunch, or grab pastries for an early breakfast before heading out!
Practical Advice:
The weather can shift fast (rain then sunshine!), so keep a jacket handy. No visa needed for most tourists, but double-check if you’re heading to Australia from abroad. Credit cards accepted pretty much everywhere.
