The Most Beautiful Lake of Kula Gangri

Actually, this trip to Kula Gangri was a pleasant surprise.
How to put it?
Originally, I planned to go to Gulu La Cuo, but the ride-hailing driver stood me up. I found a buddy in a group chat who was renting a car to Kula Gangri at the last minute.
To be honest, I didn’t even know Kula Gangri existed at that time. I only knew I wanted to hike and trek.
So, we quickly reached an agreement after knowing each other for just a few minutes.
That’s how we set off from Lhasa and after a seven to eight-hour drive, finally arrived at Kula Gangri.

I never expected Kula Gangri to surprise me so much!
It’s truly a hidden gem in Shannan, Tibet—absolutely stunning!
The entire lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, and when the sun shines on the lake surface, it looks like a sapphire left by God on earth—unbelievably beautiful!
If you’re lucky, you might even spot marmots and wild blue sheep!
Kula Gangri can really fulfill your ultimate fantasy of snow mountains and lakes!

⚠️ How to get to Kula Gangri?
1. There is public transportation (but it involves many transfers and is quite troublesome)
2. Carpooling (you can find carpools on Hongshu, usually departing from Lhasa, with options for one-day tours or two-day, one-night trips)
3. Self-driving (I personally recommend self-driving because on the way to Kula Gangri, you’ll pass Yamdrok Lake and Pumoyongcuo, where you can stop to take photos. This way, you don’t have to make a separate trip to Yamdrok Lake, saving time and effort)

🎫 About tickets:
Entering Cuoyu Village requires a 15 RMB sanitation fee. Cuoyu Village has three hiking routes (Baimalin Cuo, Jiejiu Cuo, and Zhegong San Cuo), so this 15 RMB sanitation fee is very cost-effective!
