Liaocheng Shanxi Guild Hall is located in the southeast of the ancient city, on the west bank of the canal. Construction began in the eighth year of Emperor Qianlong's reign (1743) during the Qing Dynasty, and by the fourteenth year of Emperor Jiaqing's reign (1809) it had reached its current size.
After checking the information, I found that the Shanxi and Shaanxi Guild Hall in Liaocheng is one of the three major halls in China, and the other two are the Xiqin Guild Hall in Zigong, Sichuan and the Shanxi and Shaanxi Guild Hall in Sheqi, Henan. All three are Shanxi and Shaanxi Guild Halls‼ ️So the Shanxi and Shaanxi Guild Halls in various places are synonymous with "gorgeous" and "exquisite" architecture. I wonder which one you have been to? Are there any other Shanxi and Shaanxi Guild Halls worth recommending?
The overall layout of the Shanxi and Shaanxi Guild Hall in Liaocheng is three courtyards, from the mountain gate, the passage building, the theater building, to the main hall and the Spring and Autumn Pavilion, with bell and drum towers, watchtowers and other buildings on both sides.
🏯Main attractions of the hall: wood carvings, stone carvings and brick carvings
🌸Wood carving
The whole walnut wood carving under the eaves beam of Guan Gong Hall is the treasure of the guild hall.
Wood carvings on the main entrance of the guild hall and the eaves of the stage
Carved decoration on eaves
🌸Stone carving
Lion rolling a ball
The stone carvings of auspicious animals and inscriptions under the pillars of the main hall
🌸Brick carving
They are basically found at the door and on the door covers with hanging flowers painted on slate, with both relief and openwork carvings.
