Main features
The Wang Family Courtyard was first built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. The existing buildings were mostly built during the Kangxi and Jiaqing periods of the Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of 45,000 square meters and has a building area of 32,000 square meters. There are 123 courtyards and 1,118 rooms.
The Wang Family Courtyard is mainly composed of Gaojiaya and Hongmenbao. It faces south and is known as "the first house in China" and "the Forbidden City of the people".
