Introducing Baixuelou

Baixue Tower, located in Baotu Spring Park, the world's number one spring scenic spot in Jinan City, Shandong Province, was the library of Li Panlong, a famous Ming Dynasty poet. It is now a venue for quyi performances in Baotu Spring Park during holidays.

Located southeast of Baotu Spring, the world's most scenic spring, it was built in commemoration of the renowned Ming Dynasty writer Li Panlong. Li Panlong (1514-1570), courtesy name Yulin and alias Cangming Jushi, was a native of Licheng. He was a leader of the Seven Masters of the Later Ming Dynasty and was revered as a "master of the craftsmanship" and a master of his generation. He championed the literary revival movement and wrote numerous outstanding five- and seven-character regulated verse and quatrains, known as "the most outstanding works of the last three hundred years." He also compiled the Collected Works of Cangming. In 1556, the 35th year of the Jiajing reign, Li Panlong resigned from his post as Deputy Censor of Shaanxi and returned east. He built a tower called "White Snow Tower" at the foot of Baoshan Mountain, east of Wangsherenzhuang in Licheng.
