The second day of my Ganzi tour, started from Xinduqiao bounded for Daocheng through Litang. The stretch between Xinduqiao and Litang required us to cross the Kazila Mountain Pass. The tour guide was cautioning everyone about the danger altitude sickness, and giving out tips to handle the journey through this mountain pass, before, during and after crossing the mountain pass, because of the sudden extreme climb and drop in altitude.

Soon after that, we crossed the Kazila Mountain pass and came down to a plateau before Litang. Somewhere between Kazila Mountain and Litang, we did a stopover for a toilet break and sightseeing. This is one of those memorable stopovers with stunning natural beauty.
According to the tour guide, the grassland we would be stopping over is called Maoya Big Grassland, literally translated from Chinese language. This is another reason why I chose to visit Ganzi with a tour, the guides (and bus drivers) of Ganzi tours are professionally trained, and they provide accurate information on where and what I would be visiting, which is important to me. They need to be professionally trained because the Ganzi tours they are handling are very difficult and hazardous to the untrained.
The grassland was a red brown carpet until the horizon. It was a relieve to stop by here after the long journey, to get some fresh air and stretch the legs. Rolling hills and mountains could be seen at the horizon. Forest patches could be seen on afar mountains; these were interestingly of various darker shades of green, brown, red and blue, contrasting well with the lighter shade grasslands and grass patches. There were small alpine flowers seen among the short grasses and vegetation.
