Recently, after exploring Anji, I drove to Liyang. For me, the most famous attraction in Liyang is undoubtedly the Liyang Museum, with its iconic and unique architecture that’s gone viral. That night, I stayed at the Liyang Marriott Hotel.
📍 Location:
The Liyang Marriott is very close to Liyang Railway Station—just a 5-minute taxi ride, which is where we returned our rental car. It’s even closer to the Liyang Museum, easily reachable on foot. After checking in, I took a stroll to see the museum at night. [Doge]
🅿️ Parking:
The hotel has a spacious parking lot right downstairs, making parking hassle-free and uncrowded—a perk of small cities with no parking anxiety. [Trick]
⛱ Hotel Ambience:
The overall vibe leans toward business, but there are plenty of leisure guests too. The lobby on the first floor features beautiful bonsai displays. The nearest bustling commercial area is Wanda Plaza (Liyang South Street Branch), though it’s about a 20-minute walk.
🛏 Room Facilities:
Opened in 2021, the hotel’s hardware is in prime condition. The rooms are well-maintained, with no lingering new-renovation smells. The decor is classic Marriott—comfortable bedding, a well-balanced mattress with good support, and impeccable cleanliness.
Some room types offer a view of the Liyang Museum’s distinctive "Jiaowei Qin" (a zither-like) architecture (see attached photos; the aerial shot of the museum was taken from the hotel corridor window).
The hotel also has a swimming pool and gym, though I didn’t use the pool during my evening outing.
🍲 Dining:
The executive lounge was closed during my stay, so happy hour (HH) was held at Gong Kitchen on the first floor. The food quality was impressive for a lounge—fresh, freshly cooked, and properly heated. There was a noodle station and local Tianmu Lake Beer 🍺 (see photo).
Afternoon tea was served in the first-floor lobby bar, with a selection of pastries and excellent coffee (see photos).
Breakfast was also on the first floor, with tasty and well-prepared dishes—no complaints.
📌 Tips:
My room faced the road, and while street noise was minimal, the high-speed trains passing nearby (especially during the day and evening) could be loud. If you’re noise-sensitive, request a room on the opposite side.
[GlassesUU] Verdict:
This Marriott’s standout feature is its all-around excellence—no weak points, with every aspect meeting high standards. It’s like an all-rounder athlete, plus the hardware is at its prime, making for a very comfortable stay.
Liyang itself is rich in attractions, like the Liyang Museum, Tianmu Lake, and Tianmu Lake Nanshan Bamboo Sea, all within easy reach of major cities like Shanghai and Hangzhou—perfect for a weekend getaway. This Marriott is an excellent choice for accommodations in Liyang.
