Arrow Court

The Arrow Shrine, Lopburi Province
🙏This is a place for religious ceremonies for the Chinese-Thai people in Lopburi and may be the Lopburi City Pillar Shrine. Inside this shrine, there is a black stone that is always soaked in water, which is said to be the arrow of Phra Ram that fell down. When the water around this stone dries up, Lopburi will catch fire.

🏹According to legend, when Phra Ram defeated Thotsakan, he rewarded all the generals and ordered Hanuman, the top soldier, to rule Ayutthaya together. However, Hanuman asked Phra Ram to grant him a place to build a city by letting Phra Ram shoot an arrow. Wherever the arrow lands, Hanuman must build a city there. According to legend, when the arrow hits the ground, it creates a fire that burns the ground until it is white, which is the origin of the chalk. Hanuman's descendants are the monkeys who live at Phra Kan Shrine and the Three-spire Prang. The arrow of Phra Ram is believed to still have power. When the shrine keeper lets the water in it dry up, Lopburi will catch fire.
