Introducing Putian Museum

The Putian Museum is located east of Shouxi Park on Licheng North Avenue in Putian City, Fujian Province. Construction began in November 2011. Designed by the Architectural Design Institute of Tongji University, the museum's exterior resembles a ruyi (a sacred symbol of good fortune). The Putian Museum was originally located in 1986 in the Dongyue Hall, a subsidiary hall of the Sanqing Hall in downtown Putian. The original site was an ancient watchtower. Construction began on the new site in November 2011, and the new building opened in September 2017.

As of February 2017, Putian Museum is mainly divided into a main hall and a branch hall, covering an area of ​​23.3 acres, a building area of ​​28,800 square meters, an exhibition hall area of ​​13,600 square meters, and an estimated total investment of 288 million yuan; it has five special exhibition halls and temporary exhibition halls such as "Putian History" and "Mazu Culture".

In May 2013, Putian City Museum was rated as a national third-level museum.
